Do you have a burning issue in your practice that you want to research? Are some of the practices in your work area based on ritual rather than evidence?
Following a successful launch last year, we are getting ready to launch the second round of the Point of Care Challenge. The aim of the research challenge is to improve health care.
This opportunity is made possible by a partnership between Fraser Health's Professional Practice & Integration (PPI) and Department of Evaluation and Research Services (DERS), and support from the BC Nursing Research Initiative, Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research.
What? This research competition is designed with first-time researchers in mind who work at the point of care. It is a chance to complete a research project with a lot of support along the way.
Why? Being at the point of care, you are at the best position to be truly familiar with the issues that come up in clinical practice. This provides the opportunity to answer some of those questions and develop some research skills along the way.
Who? Teams of Fraser Health employees who provide direct patient care are eligible.
When? The deadline for the Letter of Intent (LOI) is December 5, 2011 at 11:30pm. The full proposal deadline is March 26, 2012 at 11:30 pm.
How much work is involved? You will need to write a LOI, attend 2 workshops (that will help you write your proposal!), and complete a research proposal.
What do I get out of it? Alot of research skill development and up to $5000 to fund your research project! Most importantly, you have the opportunity to improve health care at your work site.
