Research Ethics

Fraser Health Research Ethics Board (REB)

The Fraser North and South Research Ethics Boards were amalgamated in December 2004 as the Fraser Health Research Ethics Board (REB) in order to ensure the highest standard of research subject protection and to enhance the required infrastructure.  In conformance with the current Canadian Tri-Council Policy and U.S. government regulations, the Fraser Health REB membership reflects a variety of medical specialities as well as having legal, medical ethics and lay representation.

The Co-Chairs and members of the Fraser Health REB, and the Fraser Health REB members, look forward to facilitating ethical evaluation for the research community of the Fraser Health region.  With the recent increase in resources, we are pleased to be able to offer an improved administrative process that supports the ethical review of the REB.  The FHREB also believes that the promotion of research benefits the population of the Region as well as the health care community involved in conducting research. The protection of research subjects, and proper planning for research, aids the furtherance of research goals.

Researchers should also be aware that the policies of and the process of REB review is always evolving and changing, as standards and requirements change. The research ethics home page will aid researchers by providing links to the relevant policies and regulations and the ability to download the documents required for the conduct of research in this region.

The REB membership meets TCPS, Health Canada and United States government requirements.
