BC SUPPORT Unit Fraser Centre Workshop: Foundations in Patient-Oriented Research
May 5 - 7, 2017
Designed to be delivered in a co-learning format with patients alongside researchers, health care providers and decision makers, this 2½ day workshop will help to equip participants with the skills necessary to engage meaningfully in a variety of research roles and to foster the attitudes essential to the formation and development of genuine partnerships. Who should attend?
This course is open to anyone who is a patient and lives within the Fraser Region and to Simon Fraser University faculty and Fraser Health researchers and other stakeholders, such as care providers and system decision-makers, who are interested in learning about working in partnership with patients in health research.
* We use patient as an overarching term inclusive of those with lived experience of the health care system and their informal caregivers such as family and friends.
This workshop consists of 3 modules spread over 2½ days
Day 1: Fundamentals of Health Research in Canada - May 5, 2017 – 6:00pm to 8:30pm
Day 2: Patient-Oriented Research - May 6, 2017 – 9:00am to 4:00pm
Day 3: Building Partnerships and Consolidating Teams - May 7, 2017 – 9:00am to 4:00pm
